Children’s Dentistry
At Friendly Smiles Dental we absolutely love seeing children of all ages. We work very closely with other children’s health professionals such as pediatric dentists, orthodontists, and pediatric ENTs. Our services include cleans, x-rays if necessary, fillings, and oral hygiene instructions. We like to motivate families and children to develop and practice good oral hygiene habits to prevent any cavities and dental traumas for children.
Your child may be eligible for the Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS) of up to $1000 every 2 years in which case Friendly Smiles Dental can bulk bill your appointments.
Thorough oral hygiene is recommended when your little one’s first baby tooth comes through however, we do not recommend using toothpaste at that stage. The first dental visit can start anywhere between 12-18 months to get your little one used to our environment and our friendly dentist. If there are any concerns, please do not hesitate to book in earlier. We offer categorized toys for each age group as rewards and cartoons to distract and make the experience fun and motivational.
Your little one’s first dental visit is mostly to engage in the fun experience and introduce our team and warm practice. We will check their teeth, gums, and the development of their jaw and facial bone structure accordingly. If there are signs of crowding or alignment problems, early diagnosis is crucial and may potentially reduce the likelihood of metal braces.
What are fissure sealants?
We also check for any natural deep grooves in your child’s teeth that may potentially become a cavity. We aim to avoid food getting stuck in these deep grooves by cleaning these grooves out and placing a resin-based flowable material that acts as a barrier.
The procedure consists of a quick non-invasive process that can help in avoiding future cavities forming on those beautiful baby teeth.
